Devoted to Black #DevotedToDenim

Last night I went to a friends place for movie night and a group of us were watching Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol. Needless to say, the movie had a profound effect on me…style wise. The next day, when I entered my closet I kept gravitating towards anything in black.

This isn’t the first time I have gravitated towards this color. I usually go all black, everything black, when I cannot figure out what to wear. The result – my overall look is simple, elegant and refined.

If you live on the East Coat, then you know we are experiencing a very warm winter. Temperatures have been in the double digits (Celsius) hence making it perfect for me to ditch the parka for this gorgeous black wool coat I got from Le Chateau.

Material, texture and style lines are incredibly important and often overlooked when it comes to shopping for an outfit. I am very selective with what items I add to my closet because I want every piece in my closet to look and feel incredible. One thing you will never find in my closet are items that are feel itchy, uncomfortable or poor in quality. Everything in my closet feels and looks amazing, right down to my scarves that I scored for under $25!

I already own a mid-length black coat, but I have been on the hunt for a long wool black coat that looks and feels luxurious. The material must to be soft, wool and not felt-like (what you commonly find in semi-blend wool coats that go for less). The fit has to be slightly loose (not oversized) so I can wear some layers underneath incase it gets a bit chilly and I need to bundle up. So it’s no surprise I was drawn this chic black coat! If you are looking for a coat that has a classic silhouette and will stay on point, this is it! The coat is a bit of splurge and it is worth every single penny!

Another item that caught my eye was this black pair of jeans I received from Fidelity Denim. I have a huge weak spot for jeans because they are incredibly versatile style-wise. I usually dress down when I am wearing my jeans, but this black number refuses to look like something I would wear when cleaning house (yes, I wear a pair of jeans when I clean house).

I love the ultra slim fit and high waist, perfect to hide the holiday food belly! Another huge love is the fit around my thighs and how it tapers.

To help complete my look and make it winter appropriate, I wore my favorite zipper detailed peep toe booties. To make the booties look different and not bring attention to the fact that I am exposing my toes to the elements, I wore a pair of black socks to hide them. To complete the look, I wore my favorite accessory – my black cross body.
