Layering for spring is my favorite because everything you put on is light, loose and flowey. It’s all about creating movement and letting the wind work in your favor. One of my favorite layers for spring is a light weight trench coat. This one here is my absolute favorite (and the first trench coat I bought). It complements everything in my closet and I literally grab it as I am running out the door.
There are so many trench coats available in various shades and styles. If you are going to choose one, pick a style that will complement your height, shape and what you would most likely wear underneath it.
If your style tends to be feminine with a hint of chic, this one here in a soft blush tone is perfect.
I tend to wear monochrome and neutral tones, so I wanted my trench to compliment what I have underneath it without competing. My choices were black or camel. I ended up going for this camel number because I fell in love with how it drapes.
Another spring layering technique I love to incorporate in my style is tying a shirt around my waist. For starters if you are wearing a pair of white linen pants, having a shirt around your waist is a great way to protect your pants if you have a habit of sitting on the ground (which I do). Another reason I love to tie a shirt around my waist is it makes a great substitute for a belt. Instead of wearing it over your belt loops, pull it through a few loops to help secure it around your waist.
