BEAUTY EDIT: SUN PROTECTION

Let’s be honest – after spending the last five months in the cold and complaining non-stop about how we were still getting more snow in April, I was happy to leave it all that behind for sun, sun, and more sun in the Bahamas. With all the excitement of going somewhere sunny and warm, and there would be zero chance of snow, I packed a wardrobe that involved no layers and would give me maximum exposure to the sun so I can score the perfect tan.

Sunscreen is probably the most important accessory you need year round. At least in my opinion, if you want to protect your skin from harmful UVA/UVB rays. What a lot of people don’t understand is that applying sunscreen helps filter out harmful rays to prevent sunburn but it does not prevent you from getting a tan. Another reason why sunscreen is important when used often enough, it delays the appearance of wrinkles.

Spoiler Alert: We are all going to get wrinkles at some point in our lives, using the right products and sunscreen daily can help delay the appearance of those pesky lines creeping up on you.

Today’s edition for the Beauty Edit, the Grey Team and I are sharing our favourite sunscreens for body and face. Each of these sunscreens has been tested for months under various conditions, and each scores a huge love from us.

VICHY IDEAL SOLEIL SPF 60

Having sensitive skin has been the bane of my existence. It doesn’t take much for me to see tiny bumps forming under the surface of my skin when I use something that agitates my skin. Thankfully there companies, like Vichy, that focus on creating products just for sensitive skin.

Vichy Ideal Soleil with SPF 60 is my go-to sunscreen whenever I expose my body to the sun. I love that it’s light, not sticky, and water-resistant. I have been using this brand of sunscreen for three years and it’s my absolute favourite because I have never had a sunburn, just a beautiful tan. Plus I love that this sunscreen has never caused my skin to break out (score!).

Chanel_Sunscreen
CHANEL UV ESSENTIAL MULTI-PROTECTION SUNSCREEN SPF 50

There are a few sunscreens I can use on my body, but when it comes to my face there is only that works with zero side effects. Chanel UV Essential has been my go-to sunscreen for my face for the last three years and it’s the only one that doesn’t cause my skin breakout. I love that the sunscreen is incredibly lightweight and doesn’t leave an oily residue on the surface of my skin.  In fact, it’s the only sunscreen I use year round and sometimes I am guilty of treating it like a primer.

OmbrelleSun
OMBRELLE  HYPOALLERGENIC LOTION (BODY) & WEIGHTLESS FACE LOTION

Hey everyone, its Ben here. Get ready, because I’m going to tell you the cold hard facts about this sunscreen. First of all, it should be noted that I have the skin of a week old, albino fruit bat. I once got burnt by looking at my friend’s vacation pictures. In technical terms, I’m fairly certain my skin can be categorized by combination oily/ normal.  Suffice it to say, I’m rather familiar with sunscreens.

The initial scent emitted by OMBRELLE  HYPOALLERGENIC LOTION is quite mild, I couldn’t describe it if I tried. It really smells like nothing, mixed with an oil that just happens to be odourless. It rubs in well and left my skin feeling slightly moisturized and managed to continue working after swimming. I’m a fan of 50+ sun protection factor with UVA and UVB protection because it means I don’t have to re-apply that frequently.

The OMBRELLE WEIGHTLESS FACE LOTION was also scentless. It has the consistency of liquid silk and I felt like my face was in good hands. It is SPF 60 which is very reassuring. It has additional vitamin E which can help repair damaged skin. Thanks for reading.

      Hi Mihaailo,
Thank you so much for your lovely comment! I know exactly how you feel, not a lot is known about sunscreen and why they are important. I made sure to put all the information we need to know that can make us re-think going outside the house sunscreen free.
