In In my recent blog post, I shared with all of you that I’m only 7lbs away from my pre-pregnancy weight. But since then, I’ve indulged in some chocolate and now I’m 10lbs away from my pre-pregnancy weight. At first, I was feeling really guilty. It became really easy for me to blame myself, and honestly, I was kind of embarrassed at the fact that I let my hard-work go so easily. I even started to wonder if I would ever reach my goal.
Until I came across this amazing quote the other day that actually inspired me to share some of the struggles I’ve been facing with my weight loss journey and title this post as I did. It read “mistakes are proof that you’re trying”. To me, this quote speaks to the fact that perfection is an unrealistic expectation. Having goals and work towards them is essential if you’re seeking change, but accepting the fact that there will be bumps along the way are simply apart of the process! And that’s all this extra 3lbs means to me now, a bump in the road, and I won’t let this deter my route entirely!
With this new found motivation, I was looking for a way to take away the guilt that those 3lbs once held over my head and decided to try on a pair of denim that fit me perfectly before my pregnancy. If you’re going through a weight-loss journey of your own, you know exactly what kind of moves I was busting in the mirror when I got those pants on. I kind of wish someone was recording me.
Going through a change is an emotional rollercoaster, literally. With the valleys, there are hills. With the setbacks, there are comebacks. Stress will pass. Patience is essential. Don’t be so hard on yourself. Be flexible. Give yourself time. You’ll get there, and when you do, you should be nothing but PROUD. We need to be our own biggest fans, we need to empower ourselves, and most importantly, we need to believe in ourselves through the good times AND the bad times! Remember, the voice in your head only holds as much power as you give it.. Feed it with positive power.
